The tenor is currently conducting Bryn Terfel and Sondra
Radvanovsky in Tosca at London's Royal Opera House.
In his only TV interview during rehearsals, the 73 year old
admitted he would not be leaving the musical arena when his operatic career
ends.
'One day logically I won't be able to sing', Domingo says, 'and I
will only conduct.'
The Spanish singer made his Opera House debut in Tosca in 1971 and
then conducted it there in 1996.
More famous for his singing Domingo has conducted operas around the
world, including Madame Butterfly in Vienna and Don Giovanni in Los Angeles.
But before he concentrates exclusively on this side of his career,
there are plenty of starring roles to be undertaken.
Domingo will sing before a World Cup final for the sixth time on
July 11, and he will be returning to the Royal Opera House's stage next year
for roles in I due Foscari and La Traviata.
