Présentation
Le parcours d'exposition met en lumière à travers plus de 50 œuvres, dont certaines exposées pour la première fois, le lien particulier de Rosa Bonheur avec « la maison des siècles ». En 1860, l'artiste achète le château de By, à quelques lieues de Fontainebleau, où elle installe son atelier. Elle y étudie les animaux de la forêt et ceux qu’abritent son grand parc arboré. En 1864, à la suite de la visite impromptue de l’Impératrice Eugénie, elle est reçue par le couple impérial au château de Fontainebleau. Une amitié, et une admiration réciproque, naissent alors entre l’artiste et l’impératrice.
Cette exposition est organisée à l’occasion du bicentenaire de la naissance de Rosa Bonheur (1822-1899). L'artiste a fait rayonner la France sur la scène artistique internationale de son époque à travers son art animalier. Artiste féminine la plus célèbre de son époque, elle devient l’artiste femme la plus récompensée et décorée du XIXe siècle. Sa distinction la plus symbolique sera de recevoir des mains de l’Impératrice Eugénie la première croix de chevalier de la Légion d’honneur décernée à une femme pour son talent d’artiste.

difficult to find in the annals of architecture history. They have not put
their names on as many large and spectacular projects as their male colleagues,
nor have they designed our city halls, banks and churches. Nonetheless, the
architectural achievements and breakthroughs of women architects have greatly
shaped society and the world we live in today...........

Plastic: Remaking Our World

Plastics have shaped our daily lives like no other material: from packaging to footwear, from household goods to furniture, from automobiles to architecture. A symbol of carefree consumerism and revolutionary innovation, plastics have spurred the imagination of designers and architects for decades. Today, the dramatic consequences of the plastic boom have become obvious and plastics have lost their utopian appeal. The exhibition »Plastic: Remaking Our World« at the Vitra Design Museum examines the history and future of this controversial material: from its meteoric rise in the twentieth century to its environmental impact and to cutting-edge solutions for a more sustainable use of plastic. Exhibits include rarities from the dawn of the plastic age and objects of the pop era as well as numerous contemporary designs and projects ranging from efforts to clean up rivers and oceans to smart concepts for waste reduction and recycling through to bioplastics made from algae and mycelium.
