2 May ‒ 23 August 2026
Sainsbury Wing
See the first major UK exhibition of Spanish master
Francisco de Zurbarán.
A rare chance to spend time with Zurbarán's paintings in the
peaceful rooms of the National Gallery.
Move between intimate still lifes and soaring altarpieces in hushed galleries. Strong light and deep shadow reveal the details of faces, figures, fruits and fabrics.
From the rind of a lemon to the gaze of a saint, Zurbarán
shows the intense in the ordinary. His work unites stillness, focus and faith.
The exhibition brings together works from major collections
across Europe and the United States, tracing Zurbarán’s career from large
religious commissions to paintings made for private devotion.
Zurbarán is showing at the National Gallery, Sainsbury Wing
between 2 May and 23 August 2026. Tickets are required.
The exhibition is organised by the National Gallery, London,
Musée du Louvre, Paris and the Art Institute of Chicago.
