Kosen Ohtsubo and Christian Kōun
Ahead of the exhibition by Kosen Ohtsubo and Christian Kōun
Alborz Oldham, which opens in January 2025, Ohtsobu's work 怪芋I /
Strange Callas I (1978/2024) is already available for purchase at the start of
the 2024 Annual Editions. The Japanese artist Kosen Ohtsubo is one of the most
important practitioners and teachers of the art form of ikebana.

Working with living
material, his ephemeral sculptures confront viewers with questions of being in
and with the world, processes of decay, fleeting beauty, and the impossibility
of human control.
The edition is
selected from Ohtsubo's photographic archive, which spans over fifty years of
creativity, and testifies to the central importance of the photographs, which
both have their own work status and document the ephemeral nature of his
ikebana sculptures.
