THE END OF THE BELLE ÉPOQUE. THE DRAWING OF THE FIRST HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY. TRETYAKOV GALLERY

According to plans, the art show will exhibit about 200 graphic works from the Tretyakov Gallery’s funds. They showcase the ideals of Classicism in the creative pursuits of the best mentors of the Academy of Arts — Alexei Yegorov and Vassily Shebuyev, and also of one of its most gifted students — Karl Bryullov.

Alongside the works of the major artists, other graphic works of the 1830s to the 1850s will be on display, which mirrored the new trends in the development of Russian art of that period. The art show will be completed with a well-known sepia series by Pavel Fedotov, which depicts “moral and critiquing scenes of everyday life” and made a big impact on further development of genre painting.
