Jacques Louis David: Radical Draftsman will be the first exhibition devoted to works on paper by the celebrated French artist who navigated vast artistic and political divides throughout his life—from his birth in Paris in 1748 to his death in exile in Brussels in 1825. His iconic works captured the aspirations and suffering of a nation, while addressing timeless themes that continue to resonate today.

Through the lens of his preparatory studies, the exhibition looks beyond his public successes to chart the moments of inspiration and the progress of ideas. Visitors will follow the artist’s process as he gave form to the neoclassical style and created major canvases that shaped the public’s perceptions of historical events in the years before, during, and after the French Revolution.

Organized chronologically, the exhibition will feature more than eighty drawings and oil sketches—including rarely loaned or newly discovered works—drawn from the collections of The Met and dozens of institutional and private lenders.

///RECORDATORIO/// Rueda de Prensa ‘TABARÉ'  Ambigú del Teatro de la Zarzuela   Os recordamos que se celebrará en el Ambigú del Teatro la RUEDA DE PRENSA de presentación del drama lírico en tres actos ‘TABARÉ' de Tomás Bretón que el Teatro de la Zarzuela rescata del olvido siguiendo con su firme política de recuperación del patrimonio lírico español. Será en versión de concierto los días 4 y 6 de marzo, cuando se presente esta obra magnífica, como todas las del compositor salmantino.  Estrenada en 1913 por el tenor Francisco Viñas en el Teatro Real, solo pudo escucharse en tres únicas funciones y hasta el día de hoy, 109 años después, no ha sido representada nunca más. Será dirigida por el maestro Ramón Tebar al frente de la orquesta Titular del Teatro, Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, y del Coro Titular del Teatro de la Zarzuela, y de un reparto encabezado por Andeka Gorrotxategi, Maribel Ortega, Juan Jesús Rodríguez y Alejandro del Cerro. La rueda de prensa será presentada por Daniel Bianco, director del Teatro, y en ella participarán el maestro Ramón Tebar, el tenor Andeka Gorrotxategi, la soprano Maribel Ortega, el barítono Juan Jesús Rodríguez y el tenor Alejandro del Cerro.
