The Chinati Foundation is open to the public Wednesday
through Sunday. The museum's collection is housed in fifteen buildings spread
over a campus of 340 acres. Works by Donald Judd are available for self-guided
viewing and are also included on all guided tours. The rest of the Chinati collection is
accessible by guided tour only.
Chinati is located in the arid, high Chihuahuan desert and
access to the collection requires spending significant amounts of time outdoors
in the sun and travelling distances from 0.5 to 1.5 miles on terrain that often
includes uneven, thorny, or rock-covered ground. Please dress comfortably and
sensibly for the climate and landscape.
Chinati can be challenging for people who have difficulty
walking or need special assistance. Please contact the museum at visitorservice@chinati.org and we'll be happy to make
arrangements as needed. Although we welcome families, the nature of the
exhibitions and duration of the tours can be challenging for young
children—please contact Visitor Services at 432.729.4362 to discuss tour
options.
